Abstract

Balloon catheters with distributed strain sensors aim to estimate arterial wall mechanics in vivo. Reconstructing the lumen contour from circumferential segment lengths is essential. The standard linear one-parameter mapping proves insufficient for soft-tissue and concave geometries. A smooth cubic model with soft geometric penalties and robust evolutionary optimization achieves accurate closure and area agreement while yielding physiologically realistic curvature.
